Die Bundesregierung unterstützte den Bahnbau mit umfangreichen Landschenkungen. 1897 in der St. Louis & San Francisco Railway (Central Division) bzw. der Santa Fe Pacific Railway (Western Division) aufgegangen. | | Specials: | Sehr großes Querformat, braun/schwarzer Druck: Zug fährt durch eine tolle Gebirgslandschaft, Lok in Nebenvignette. Das herrliche und bedeutende Papier trägt zusätzlich noch auf der Rückseite die Originalsignatur von Oliver Ames als Trustee. Oliver Ames (1807-1877), president der Union Pacific 1866-77, war verwickelt in den spektakulären Skandal um Credit Mobilier. Die beiden Brüder Oakes und Oliver Ames waren neben Sidney Dillon und Thomas C. Durant die Hauptpromotoren der Union Pacific, des östlichen Teils der grossen Transkontinentalen Eisenbahn. Nach dem Credit Mobilier-Skandal (in dem Oakes Ames als Sündenbock zu Fall gebracht wurde, während Sidney Dillon und Thomas C. Durant ungeschoren davon kamen) baute Oliver Ames das Familienunternehmen Oliver Ames & Sons, das von seinem Vater gegründet wurde, wieder auf. | | Condition: | Unentwertet.
