Die 94 Meilen lange Strecke machte die Hälfte der durchgehenden Verbindung von Columbus, O. nach Indianapolis, Ind. aus. 1867 mit der Columbus & Indianapolis Central und der Toledo, Logansport & Burlington RR zur Columbus & Indiana Central Ry. verschmolzen. Diese fusionierte nur 8 Monate später mit der Chicago & Great Eastern Ry. zur Columbus, Chicago & Indiana Central Ry. Auch die neue Bahn war nur ein gutes Jahr eigenständig: 1869 begannen Fusionsgespräche mit der Erie RR des jungen Jay Gould, im gleichen Jahr wurde die Bahn dann für 999 Jahre an die mächtige Pennsylvania RR verpachtet.
