Kurz nachdem 1885 die ersten 8 Meilen von Blue Spring zum Lake Helen fertig waren übernahm 1886 der Konkursverwalter das Kommando. Ein Jahr später war die schließlich 30 Meilen lange Bahn bis New Smyrna fertig und wurde als Atlantic & Western RR reorganisiert, ohne daß sich an der Aktionärsstruktur oder am Management etwas geändert hatte: Ein damals überaus beliebter Weg, Schulden loszuwerden. Anfang der 1890er Jahre wurde der Standard-Oil-Magnat und Florida-Promotor Henry M. Flagler president der Bahngesellschaft und verleibte sie 1894 seiner Florida East Coast Railway ein (die bis 1895 als Jacksonville, St. Augustine & Indian River RR firmierte). | | Specials: | Lindgrün/schwarzer Druck, schöne detailreiche Zentralvignette mit Personenzug, im Hintergrund Fluss mit Schaufelraddampfer. Originalunterschrift von E. R. Chapman, damals eine wichtige Persönlichkeit der US-Wirtschaft. Der Investment-Banker saß im Vorstand von fast 25 verschiedenen Unternehmen vor allem aus der Gas-, Stahl- und Eisenbahn-Branche, außerdem hatte er sich einen Namen als Fusions-Spezialist gemacht. | | Availability: | Lt.
