place: | Minnesota | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 394 | | Info: | Die sogenannte „Cross Cut Line“ wurde 1886 gegründet zum Bau einer Bahn von Duluth, Minn. nach Denver, Colo. mit Anschluß an die Union Pacific in Nebraska. Noch im Gründungsjahr wurden 90 Meilen Strecke trassiert und die Bahn orderte die ersten Waggons. In den nächsten zwei Jahren wurden die Gleise verlegt auf dem Teilstück zwischen Benson, Minn. und Sauk Centre, Minn., wo Anschluß an die Northern Pacific bestand, 1889 war die Bahn von Sauk Centre bis zur South Dakota Staatsgrenze fertig. 1890 wurde die Bahn an die Duiluth & Southwestern RR verkauft. Der Weiterbau der Bahn ab Sauk Centre wurde dann von der Northers Pacific unter Führung von James J.
