Stillwell mehrere Bahnen auf und ergänzte die Strecken, um von Kansas City aus den Golf von Mexico zu erreichen, wo er für seine Kansas City, Pittsburg & Gulf RR den Tiefwasserhafen Port Arthur baute. Nach dem Konkurs 1899 ersteigerte ein Konsortium unter Führung von E. H. Harriman und George Gould die Bahn und formte daraus die Kansas City Southern. Diese kaufte 1939 die Louisiana & Arnansas Ry. und erweiterte ihr System bis in die 1990er Jahre immer mehr auf 5.036 km Streckenlänge. Teils über Streckenrechte fährt die Bahn heute von Kansas City nach Chicago, Omaha, Shreveport, New Orleans, Meridan, Mobile, Port Arthur und Birmingham. Ihr berühmtester Zug war der „Southern Belle“ der bis 1969 auf der Strecke Kansas City - New Orleans fuhr. Später kamen noch umfangreiche Interessen in Mexico dazu (Texas Mexican Ry.), außerdem ist die Kansas City Southern zu 50 % an der Panama Canal Ry. beteiligt. 2021 lieferten sich die Canadian Pacific Ry. und die Canadian National Ry. einen Übernahmekampf, den die CP für sich entschied, was 2023 in der Fusion zur CPKC endete. | | Specials: | Rostrot/schwarzer ABNC-Stahlstich mit ungemein feiner Dampflok-Vignette. | | Availability: | Aktien dieser sehr bedeutenden Bahn hatten wir noch nie im Angebot!
