Die Strecke Preetz-Lütjenburg wurde am 1.10.1910 eröffnet, die Strecke Preetz-Kirchbarkau am 2.4.1911. Die Gründer waren der Kreis Plön, Habermann & Guckes AG, die Stadtgemeinden Preetz und Lütjenburg sowie der Gutsbesitzer Karl Hirschberg. Dividenden wurden nie gezahlt. 1931 wurde dann die Strecke Kirchbarkau-Preetz und 1938 die Strecke Preetz-Lütjenburg stillgelegt. Die Gesellschaft wurde aufgelöst.
