Der Broadway, die 20 km lange Hauptstrasse von New York, durchschneidet das ansonsten streng quadratische Strassennetz von Manhattan schräg. Er beginnt am Hafen und durchquert das Wolkenkratzerviertel von Wall Street. Die Strecke der Pferdebahn führte vom Union Square zum University Place unterhalb der 14ten Strasse.
