Starting price: 1.000,00 EUR Issuing- date: 04.05.1846 Issuing- place: Philadelphia Picture: Number: 520 Info: Die Grand Gulf Railroad & Banking Company wurde 1833 durch den Staat Mississippi gechartert. Durch Fusion mit 5 anderen Bahnen wurde 1884 die Louisville, New Orleans & Texas Ry durch Collis P. Huntington gegründet. Die 456 Meilen lange, 1888-90 fertiggestellte Hauptstrecke führte von Memphis nach New Orleans. Als Verbindung zwischen dem System der Chesapeake & Ohio im Norden mit dem System der Southern Pacific im Süden (die beide von C. P. Huntington kontrolliert wurden) hatte die bis heute in Betrieb befindliche Bahnstrecke eine überragende Bedeutung. 1892 nach Verkauf an die Yazoo & Mississippi Valley RR in die Illinois Central eingegliedert.
