place: | Berlin | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 46067 | | Info: | Der in Wien geborene und auch verstorbene Rolf Randolf (1878-1941) schlug 1897 zunächst eine Offizierslaufbahn ein. 1901 trat er erstmals als Schauspieler auf, kam 1904 nach Deutschland und gehörte bis 1914 zum Ensemble des Münchener Schauspielhauses. Im 1. Weltkrieg leitete er erst an der Ostfront, dann an der Westfront ein eigenes Fronttheater. Noch während des Krieges sah man Randolf auch als Filmschauspieler, 1918 gründete er in München die Rolf Randolf-Film GmbH. Er produzierte 1919 die allererste Verfilmung der kriegsauslösenden Geschehnisse von Mayerling, wobei er selbst den dort von einem serbischen Separatisten erschossenen Kronprinz Rudolf mimte. Die im Jan. 1923 gegründete „Fristag Film Studien AG“ wurde im Sept. 1923 wie oben umbenannt, jedoch schon 1924 wieder aufgelöst und 1927 von Amts wegen gelöscht. Rolf Randolf machte, wie schon zuvor, mit einer GmbH im Filmgeschäft weiter. Keiner seiner Filme (bis 1941 bis zu 3 pro Jahr) wurde ein wirklicher „Renner“. Bei seinem Tod 1941 war er abseits der in der UFA gleichgeschalteten deutschen Filmindustrie einer der letzten unabhängigen Filmproduzenten im Deutschen Reich. | | Specials: | Lt.
