Betrieb von Warenhäusern, Beteiligungs-Holding der jüdischen Familie Wertheim. 1938 umbenannt in AWAG Allgemeine Warenhandels-Gesellschaft AG, nachdem bei der “Arisierung” der Karstadt-Konzern eingestiegen war. Erst 2006 erging ein höchstrichterliches Urteil, daß der in der DDR enteignete wertvolle Grundbesitz in der Leipziger Straße nicht dem Karstadt-Konzern, sondern den Vertretern der jüdischen Alteigentümer zusteht.
