place: | Cincinnati, Ohio | | Picture: |  | | Number: | A584 | | Info: | Ursprünglich gegründet 1871 als Dayton & Southeastern RR, 1881 verschmolzen mit der Toledo & Grand Rapids RR (gegr. 1874) und der Toledo, Delphos & Burlington RR (gegr. 1880, blieb auch für die fusionierte Ges. namensgebend), wenige Monate später wurde auch noch die in Indiana/Ohio schon seit 1848 bestehende Iron RR aufgenommen. Die 154 Meilen lange Schmalspurbahn führte von Dayton nach Dean, Ohio. Ein halbes Dutzend weiterer Fusionen und Reorganisationen mehrmals in einem Jahr folgte danach. Die schließlich 1884 gegründete Dayton & Ironton fusionierte 1887 mit der Dayton & Chicago Ry. (gegr. 1886) zur Dayton, Fort Wayne & Cicago Ry. Auch die überlebte keine vier Jahre, ging in der Konkursversteigerung 1891 an zunächst zwei Nachfolger, die 1895 wieder in dieser Cincinnati, Hamilton & Dayton Ry. zusammenfanden. Es bestand nun ein 651 Meilen langes Netz im Dreieck Indianapolis, Toledo und Ironton mit Dayton (nördlich von Cincinnati) als Knotenpunkt. Die C.H.&D.Ry. überlebte dann immerhin 20 Jahre und ging erst 1914 pleite, in der Konkursversteigerung wurde sie von der Baltimore & Ohio erworben und 1917 als B&O-Tochter Toledo & Cincinnati RR reorganisiert. | | Specials: | Braun/schwarzer HLBNC-Stahlstich, herrliche große Vignette mit Personenzug am Seeufer. | | Condition: | EF-VF | | Sold: | 110,00 EUR |
