price: | 150,00 EUR | | Picture: |  | | Info: | Die erste Lokomotivfabrik der Welt gründete George Stephenson am 23.8.1823 auf den Namen seines Sohnes Robert in Newcastle-on-Tyne. Im Jahre 1813 baute George Stephenson seine erste “wandernde Maschine”, den “Blücher”, die am 25.7.1814 die erste Fahrt erfolgreich unternahm. Seine Lokomotivfabrik baute zuerst Lokomotiven für die Stockton & Darlington-Eisenbahn (1825). Vater und Sohn Stephenson waren später bei fast allen großen Eisenbahnunternehmen Englands und des Kontinents beteiligt. So lieferte 1853 Robert Stephenson, der zum besten Eisenbahningenieur seiner Zeit avancierte, die “Adler”-Lokomotive für die erste deutsche Eisenbahnlinie von Nürnberg nach Fürth. 1937 fusionierte die Gesellschaft mit der Hawthorn Leslie zu Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn Ltd.
