Schon zuvor waren in den Vorgängerinstituten u.a. die Preußische Boden-Credit-Actien-Bank, die Schlesische Boden-Credit-Actien-Bank, die Preußische Hypotheken-Actien-Bank, die Deutsche Grundcredit-Bank Gotha und die Landwirtschaftliche Pfandbriefbank (Roggenrentenbank) aufgegangen.
