Zunächst Herstellung von Schreibmaschinen, dann Addiermaschinen und später von Taschenrechnern. 1962 Umwandlung in Commodore Business Machines. 1976 Umbenennung wie oben und Sitzverlegung auf die Bahamas. Ab Mitte der 1970er Jahre Herstellung von Computern. 1982 wurde der C64 vorgestellt, von dem 22 Mio. Stück verkauft wurden. Damit berherrschte Commodore in den 1980er bis in die frühen 90er Jahre den Markt für Heimcomputer. 1984 kaufte Atari den ehemaligen Konkurrenten auf. 1994 ging das Unternehmen in Liquidation.
