Chr. im Zuge ihrer befestigten Nordgrenze (Donau-Limes) das Legionslager Vindobona. 166 zerstört, wurde die Siedlung 170 von Kaiser Mark Aurel wiedererrichtet und 213 Municipium (römische Landstadt mit Selbstverwaltung). 1137 wird Wien erstmals civitas (Stadt) genannt. Die Stellung als Residenzstadt und ein Aufleben des Donauhandels führten zu einer wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Blüte. Ende des 12. Jh. erhielt Wien Stadt- und Stapelrecht (mit Monopolstellung im Transithandel). | | Specials: | Teil einer 30-Mio.-$-Anleihe der Stadt Wien, die in den USA unter Führung der National City Bank of New York platziert wurde.
