place: | Bochum | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 15 | | Info: | Schon seit ca. 1735 bestand die Zeche Engelsburg als Stollenzeche. 1833/34 ging man zum Tiefbau über. 1889 erwarb der Bochumer Verein für Gussstahlfabrikation das Bergwerk und baute es zügig aus, so daß die Förderung nach der Jahrhundertwende auf über 600.000 t im Jahr fast verzehnfacht wurde. 1926 in die Vereinigte Stahlwerke AG eingebracht. 1961 wurde die Zeche stillgelegt. Auf dem Gelände der Zeche Engelsburg befindet sich heute der Hauptbetriebshof der Straßenbahnen der Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen AG. | | Specials: | Hübsche Umrandung, fünf Originalunterschriften, u.a R.
