place: | Düsseldorf / Eiserfeld | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 993 | | Info: | Schon ab 1650 wurde am Gilberg zwischen Eiserfeld und Hengsbach in zahlreichen Gruben Erz abgebaut. 1851 konsolidierten hier die Gruben Thalsbach, Schwere Wahl, Alte Thalsbach, Junge Thalsbach und Unterste Thalsbach, später wurde noch die 1855 angelegte Grube Vaterland dazugenommen. 1890 erreichte man mit rd. 100 Mann Belegschaft den höchsten Stand der Förderung. Ab 1897 bis 1919 stand der Betrieb gänzlich still, nach Übernahme der Kuxe durch die Bergbau- und Hütten-AG Friedrichshütte in Herdorf 1921 wurde die Förderung noch einmal in Gang gebracht, jedoch im aug. 1925 endgültig eingestellt. | | Specials: | Schöne Rankwerk-Umrahmung, Bergmann mit “Glück auf!”-Schild im Unterdruck.
