Info:Gründung 1861 zwecks Reorganisation von Vorläufer-Bahnen. Hauptstrecke East St. Louis, Ill. nach Terre Haute, Ind. (189 Meilen).
Specials:Die Aktie ist ausgestellt auf Edward Henry Harriman (1848-1909) und rückseitig von ihm original unterschrieben. Harriman begann mit 14 Jahren in der New Yorker Wall Street als Bürobote. Bald darauf betrieb er schon ein kleines Transportschiff, das zwischen New York und Newburgh verkehrte. Berühmt geworden ist er als einer der großen amerikanischen Eisenbahnkönige. Harriman hatte ein Spezialgebiet, auf dem sein ganzes Know-how gefordert war: Er machte bankrotte Linien wieder flott. Nachdem er bereits auf die Illinois Central entscheidenden Einfluß gewonnen hatte, brachte er gegen die Jahrhundertwende auch die Union Pacific unter seine Kontrolle. Nicht unumstritten blieb die Politik, seine finanzielle Hausmacht systematisch zum Ankauf von Wertpapieren anderer Eisenbahngesellschaften einzusetzen. Dennoch galt er unter seinen Zeitgenossen als eine der fähigsten Unternehmerpersönlichkeiten der Vereinigten Staaten. Ganz in rot gedruckt, unten über die gesamte Breite Landschafts-Abb. mit Güterzug und Bahnhof, Vignette mit Rindern und Zug.
