Die Aktienmehrheit übernahm 1919 erst der Kaugummi-König William Wrigley jr., dann 1924 der Industrielle Errett Lobban Cord. Cord, der später auch Duesenberg, Lexington und Lycoming übernahm, bewirkte mit modernerem Design und höherer Motorleistung einen steilen Anstieg der Verkaufszahlen und machte Auburn damit zu einer der führenden Firmen der amerikanischen Automobilindustrie.
