Die Bergbauregion bekam Eisenbahnanschluß, und an der Einmündung der Zweigbahn in die Hauptstrecke durch das Salt Lake Valley (Bingham Junction) bauten J. W. Kerr und Isadore Morris 1871 mit dem Sheridan Hill Smelter den ersten Hochofen für die Verhüttung von Bleierz aus dem Bingham Canyon. Die Hochöfen wechselten mehrfach die Besitzer, wurden aber kontinuierlich vergrößert und modernisiert. Kurz nach der Wende zum 20. Jh. erwarb die United States Smelting, Refining & Mining Co. die Hütte, wo sie dann Kupfer von 1902 bis 1907 und Blei von 1905 bis 1958 erschmolz. Der Erzbrecher, der Bleierzkonzentrat lieferte, war sogar noch bis 1972 in Betrieb. | | Specials: | Große Vignette der an der Eisenbahnlinie gelegenen Bleihütte. | | Availability: | Unentwertet.
