Die 27 Meilen lange West Feliciana Railroad von Woodville durch die Baumwollpflanzungen Louisianas nach Bayou Sara Landing am Mississippi war die allererste normalspurige Eisenbahn der USA! Sie wurde 1831 konzessioniert und 1842 vollendet, im Sezessionskrieg zerstört, wieder aufgebaut und schließlich 1892 dem System der Illinois Central einverleibt. Die Fulton Bank in New York, die für die Eisenbahn auf deren Rechnung die Bankgeschäfte führte, war schon 1824 gegründet worden und ist nach einer Reihe von Zusammenschlüssen schließlich 1989 Teil der Bank of New York geworden. | | Availability: | Unentwertet.
