Info:Chemnitz war die erste Fabrikstadt Sachsens und nannte sich das "Deutsche Manchester", deshalb fand auch die Gründungswut hier ein ausserordentliches Feld. Die Maschinenbaugesellschaft wurde im März 1872 von R. A. Seelig und Adolf Martini in Berlin und Carl Mankiewicz in Dresden gegründet. Diese drei waren die Vorkäufer, die ersten Zeichner und die ersten Aufsichtsräte, und sie wurden auch die Gläubiger der Gesellschaft. Verwaltungsrat: Rob. Büttner und Advokat H. A. Widemann, Direktor war der Mitvorbesitzer Gottlieb Behrend (von diesen drei Herren auch original unterschrieben). Im Juni 1873 beschloss man, das Aktienkapital zu verdoppeln, obwohl die Gesellschaft von der Börse bei Einführung gleich als "sumpfend" getauft worden war. Schon im September fehlte es wieder dringend an Geld und es begann eine unglaubliche Wechselreiterei. Die Wirtschaftsführung des Direktor Behrend war unglaublich, er befasste sich mit Gründungen und Börsenspekulationen und ließ in der Fabrik Fünf gerade gehen. Auch der Procurist spekulierte und entwendete der Kasse 6000 Thaler, er mußte entlassen werden. Die Bilanz von 1874 rechnete noch 42 % des Actienkapitals, war jedoch gefälscht. Die Gesamtschuld betrug nicht weniger als 1,45 Mio. Thaler, im April 1875 wurde der Konkurs erklärt.
