Von Anfang an verfolgte die Gesellschaft eine aggressive Ankaufspolitik, indem sie auch größere Bahnen übernahm. Reorganisiert am 12.8.1882 nach Verschmelzung mit Great Western Railway Companies of Canada. 1908 betrug die von ihr kontrollierte Streckenlänge 4.523 Meilen an, davon wurden 2.951 Meilen von ihr selbst betrieben.
