Übernahme der Salpeterfelder der Firma H.B. Sloman & Cia. in Tocopilla, Republik Chile. Der Salpeterboom, der 1879 mit dem für Chile glücklichen Ende des Krieges mit Bolivien und Peru begonnen hatte, endete mit der Erfindung des Verfahrens zur Gewinnung von Stickstoff aus der Luft von den deutschen Chemikern Naber und Bosch. In den "Oficinas Salitreras" in der Atacama-Wüste arbeiteten bis zu 60.000 Menschen. Im Aufsichtsrat saßen Persönlichkeiten wie Henry Sloman, D. Max v. Schinckel, Carl Vorwerk und Dr. Ricardo Sloman.
