Frederick Collins (1869-1952) als „Collins Marine Wireless Telephone Co.“, 1908 umbenannt wie oben. Collins befuhr das Land, um die Vorzüge seines drahtlosen Telefons anzupreisen und um die Aktien seiner Firma zu verkaufen. Collins schrieb über 100 technische und wissenschaftliche Bücher, ferner veröffentlichte er über 500 Artikeln in wissenschaftlichen Publikationen. Er galt als ein Experte der drahtlosen Telephonie! Er konnte aber seine Versprechungen nicht halten, z.B. die Produktion von Mobiltelephonen für Automobilfahrer. 1911 wurde Collins und vier Mitarbeiter seiner Firma wegen des betrügerischen Verkaufs von wertlosen Aktien angeklagt und zu mehrjährigen Haftstrafen verurteilt. | | Specials: | Detaillierte Abb. eines “Collins Wireless Telephone” und eines Fährschiffes.
