Sie nahm ihren regulären Passagierbetrieb 1893 auf. Nach manigfältigen Problemen 1904 als Chicago and Oak Park Elevated RR neu benannt, nachdem die Stockholders dies gefordert hatten. 1911 Zusammenschluß der South Side Elevated RR, der Metropolitan West Side Elevated RR, der Chicago & Oak Park Elevated Ry und der Northwestern Elevated RR zur Chicago Elevated Railways Collateral Trust (CER).
