Nach 3 Jahren Bauzeit wurde eine Strecke von 35 km gebaut, bis zum Catawba-Fluß. Für den Bau einer Brücke fehlte das Geld, so wurde das Bauvorhaben an die Charlotte, Columbia & Augusta Railroad weitergegeben. 1896 wurde die Bahn nach Gerichtsbeschluss für 25.000 $ versteigert.
